Tree on Fire
Announcing the first edition of Hayden Bean's first book.
Tree on Fire is a collection of short stories, poems, and drawings by Hayden Bean. It was conceived, written, designed and printed in Ojai, California.
The cover and frontispiece are woodcuts done by his grandmother Sheila Rainey. The insert poem is written by Hayden's friend and fellow poet César Martinez Martinez from La Ciudad de Oaxaca de Juarez, Oaxaca.
500 copies were printed letterpress reproducing the original typewriter manuscript. The text paper is Mohawk Via. The book is 6"x9" containing 88 pages. Cover stock is GMUND No Color No Bleach 110#, Norman Clayton, of Classic Letterpress, designed the book and printed it on his 18x23 Heidelberg Cylinder. Bound by On Line Bindery in Richmond CA.
Copies are available for $77 each, which is a deal because Hayden sold the farm to get this damn thing finished.
He began writing the book in 2021 and the the last entry was written 2024.
Special thanks to David Berger, of the Ojai Playhouse, for his generous support and believing in the project from day one.
